# Cost centers

> Read and manage cost centers organisation-wide.

# Cost centers

Cost centers are organisation-wide master data. They connect cost-center codes with names and optional descriptions.

## Available tools

* `list_cost_centers`
* `create_cost_center`
* `update_cost_center`
* `delete_cost_center`

## Scope

Cost centers are **organisation-wide**. You do not need a `companyUuid`.

## Typical use cases

* load every existing cost center
* create new cost centers
* update names or descriptions
* delete cost centers you no longer need

## Where cost centers are used

Cost centers are used in Fyvel, among other places, in:

* categories
* personnel-cost logic in the app
* filters and exports

## Note

If you work with categories, it is often worth looking at the cost centers first, so you use the correct codes and names.
